Many businesses which have outsourced their security needs to a private security firm are more than happy to leave it at; ignore everything to do with their security, from who is performing the duties, to how complete a service they’re getting. Now, this isn’t such a bad thing, as so long as you’ve properly vetted your security firm to see if they have the necessary expertise, it should be something that you can, for the most part, leave to them. If this isn’t the case however, then it could mean you’re wasting money on an ineffective security plan.

To vet a security firm, you need to start with a meeting. This can be an illuminating experience, where you can learn a lot about the company’s capabilities. As part of the meeting, or even done more extensively at a later date, you need to try to discern the expertise of their employees, so that you know they have somebody capable of dealing with any situation, should something unexpected happens.
