Hiring security personnel is a big decision; you have the overheads of additional staff, the potential disruption that additional security apparatus could cause. There are certainly situations within the corporate world where security guards and technicians will be unnecessary, but just as this is the case, the opposite is also true.

There are numerous reasons why you may need to have security guards for your business; you could be a law practice, with privileged information which could potentially be a target for thieves;  you could have a research and development operation on premises, and you wish to protect all proprietary technology from potential piracy (a growing problem in the corporate, post-globalism world). Whichever the case, having a totally open system won’t provide much security for your enterprise; necessitating personnel and technology which offers more protection.

Security guards are unlikely to be enough in the circumstances already discussed; you will need to have an entire security apparatus which can deal with security systems and devices, as well as the standard operating force of security guards – which means technicians, and probably an advising company who can help to engineer an effective system.
