The SIA (the security industry authority – the governing body of the security industry), offers a number of different licenses, and they’re all necessary when you work within the industry. The licenses cover a number of different roles within the industry, so you need to make sure you have the correct one for the job you’re trying to perform.

The frontline SIA license covers all people who are actively involved in ensuring security as a service. Meaning that this will cover all security officers, advisers, managers and installers.

A non-frontline SIA license covers all of the surrounding staff which aren’t actively involved with providing a security service, such as human resource positions. These people also need a license due to how they are sometimes in contact with private information and how they need to be able to manage staff who hold a fronline license.
