The idea of a perfect surveillance system has attracted security professionals for decades, but has so far been out of reach for everybody. No matter which system you look at, there is a way to get around it. You could hack into the system and bring it down, or you could find a way to circumvent the sensors without alerting anything or anybody. Either way, the effect is the same.

New technology is being created all of the time which seeks to make a more impenetrable surveillance system, but it is still some ways off of perfection. One new and particularly interesting advancement which is not currently widely in use (although there is evidence suggesting that homeland security is using it) is electronic aroma sensors. These act in much the same way as a dog with a sensitive nose, but without the need of having visible evidence (i.e. the dog) available for all to see. Through a simple sensor, you can detect such things as chemicals relating to bomb making, to drugs, and to other illegal paraphernalia. This technology is sure to bring us one step closer to a perfect surveillance system.
