Being abroad may be outside of your comfort zone, especially if things begin to take a turn for the worse. Despite the fact that many countries are just as safe as the UK, you may be more on your guard and feel less aware of the security risks if you are abroad. Here is what you should do if you feel your safety is being threatened:

  • Stay in an area where there are plenty of people. It’s much easier to feel safe and to not be singled out from a crowd in a busy area.
  • Tell the police. Find out how to contact the place in your destination before you travel.
  • Tell someone who speaks your language. Go to the nearest shop or hotel and explain what the problem is and why you believe you are unsafe. They can help you find assistance from security and police if it is needed.
